Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to work closely with the Project Manager, construction staff, and design team in reviewing plans, technical documents, and ensuring that projects are completed within scope, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field and will be committed to upholding diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with estimating/purchasing efforts in the final development of bid packages and the baseline construction schedule
  • Coordinate and track special inspection documentation
  • Create and manage RFI’s from the field to the architect/engineer of record
  • Maintain, update, and distribute project plans and records
  • Manage processing submittals from subcontractors/vendors to the architect/engineer of record for approval
  • Establish and maintain all project files relating to subcontracts, bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built and closeout documents
  • Assist in procuring building permits and document and distribute weekly project meeting notes
  • Review change orders from subcontractors for scope and price, prepare and present them to the Project Manager
  • Provide field support to construction superintendents to ensure contract and quality compliance
  • Interact with construction clients and embody company core values
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of construction project plans and specifications required
  • 1 to 2 years of construction experience preferred
  • Proficiency in construction management/scheduling software and thorough knowledge of computer software applications preferred
  • MEP background preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language – excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
  • Working knowledge of construction engineering best practices
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must be committed to continuous learning and growing within the organization
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a strong focus on attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, without compromising quality of work

Day-to-day

  • Navigate a construction site – which may include climbing ladders, moving around scaffolding, and traveling through uneven ground
  • Interact with all levels of employees and business partners to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Interface with technology and operate a computer
  • Work independently with minimal instruction and collaborate effectively with all levels of employees and business partners
