Overview

A leading architecture and engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Engineering Thought Leader to join their mission critical/data center practice. This role focuses on developing electrical design solutions in collaboration with clients and leading project teams from concept through construction. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring engineering professionals.

 

Responsibilities

🔹 Develop national-level electrical design strategies with clients and project stakeholders

🔹 Lead multi-disciplinary electrical design teams from schematic through construction phases

🔹 Engage clients to align system design with performance, reliability, and scalability goals

🔹 Apply deep expertise in medium/low voltage systems, emergency power (UPS/generators), and high-availability infrastructure

🔹 Oversee code compliance (NEC, NFPA, IEEE) and liaise with AHJs and utilities

🔹 Drive early-stage design charrettes, system concepts, one-line diagrams, and load calcs

🔹 Prepare and maintain an Electrical Basis of Design Journal

🔹 Act as electrical discipline lead on assigned projects and ensure high-quality deliverables

🔹 Support business development, RFP responses, client interviews, and budgeting

🔹 Provide construction administration support including RFIs and submittals

 

Leadership & Mentorship

🌟 Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers

🌟 Foster team development through feedback, recognition, and technical training

🌟 Participate in refining internal standards and design documentation

🌟 Represent the firm in technical panels, industry events, and conferences

 

Qualifications

✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)

✔ Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months

✔ 10+ years of experience in A/E industry with a focus on data center design

✔ Expertise in Revit and electrical analysis tools (SKM, ETAP)

✔ Familiarity with LEED, commissioning, and sustainable design strategies

✔ Experience with short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies

✔ Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills

✔ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

 

Day-to-day

⚡ Lead integrated design efforts and maintain project delivery excellence

⚡ Collaborate remotely and in-person across multidisciplinary teams

⚡ Coordinate with utilities, clients, and AHJs for seamless execution

⚡ Contribute to a culture of quality, mentorship, and continuous improvement

⚡ Support field visits and site observations as required
