Job Title: Vice President Operations - Data Centers
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Vice President of Operations - Data Centers to oversee the delivery of hyperscale data center projects. The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, drive operational excellence, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and budget expectations. This individual will bring extensive leadership experience in the Mission Critical construction sector with a focus on hyperscale data center delivery.
Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Oversee the full lifecycle of hyperscale data center projects, encompassing preconstruction, scheduling, logistics, field operations, and closeout.
- Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including superintendents, project managers, safety managers, and subcontractors, ensuring field execution aligns with client and company expectations.
- Operational Excellence: Drive performance to meet corporate targets for safety, cost, schedule, and quality, maintaining the highest standards of building practices and operational efficiency.
- Permitting and Compliance: Manage permitting, inspections, and zoning approvals, and work closely with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and local agencies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and foster strong relationships with clients, developers, consultants, and trade partners to maximize collaboration and ensure project success.
- Risk Management: Ensure adherence to the defined scope of contracts, proactively manage change orders, and support project risk mitigation processes.
- Team Development: Recruit, motivate, and mentor high-performing teams in both field and office settings to promote continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Industry Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain operational leadership and foster innovation within the Mission Critical and data center construction space.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience:
- Experience in Mission Critical or complex commercial construction projects, with at least 5 years in a senior operations role within a general contractor or construction management firm.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale hyperscale data center projects for top-tier clients, demonstrating expertise in both general contracting and project management.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in construction practices, field operations, subcontractor management, zoning regulations, and permitting protocols.
Skills:
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask across complex projects with competing deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge of budget management, scheduling, and project documentation with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration and develop long-term strategic relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze and mitigate risks while maintaining a keen focus on safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as necessary to support teams and projects across regions.
