Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Centre Specialist to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and optimization of our data centre infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the data centre, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Monitor and manage data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain data centre security protocols to safeguard sensitive information and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and projects.
  • Manage capacity planning and resource allocation to meet current and future business needs.
  • Document processes, procedures, and system configurations to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and outages, providing timely resolutions and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data centre operations, infrastructure management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Familiarity with data centre management tools and monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data centre operations, including cooling, power, and security.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) are a plus.

Day-to-Day

  • Conduct regular inspections of data centre equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor system alerts and logs, addressing any issues or anomalies promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment maintenance and upgrades.
  • Support IT teams in deploying and configuring new hardware and software.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, system configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical incidents.
