Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Centre Specialist to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and optimization of our data centre infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and reliability in a mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the data centre, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Monitor and maintain data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and network equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  • Manage hardware installations, upgrades, and decommissioning in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with data centre security protocols and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data centre layouts, configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, providing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data centre operations or a related IT infrastructure role.
  • Strong understanding of data centre technologies, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for data centre management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) are a plus.

Day-to-Day

  • Conduct regular system checks to ensure all data centre equipment is functioning optimally.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for maintenance and support activities.
  • Monitor environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, to maintain optimal operating conditions.
  • Manage access control and ensure adherence to security protocols within the data centre.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and assist with project implementations.
  • Document all activities, incidents, and changes to maintain an accurate record of operations.
