The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our data centre's electrical systems while driving innovation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within the data centre, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop and enforce electrical standards, policies, and procedures to maintain compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of electrical infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and maintenance projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and IT, to align electrical systems with overall business objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor and analyze electrical system performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure project deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to electrical operations and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in electrical systems design, maintenance, and management, preferably within data centre environments.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including but not limited to NFPA, IEEE, and IEC.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

Day-to-Day

  • Oversee daily operations of the data centre's electrical systems, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and system integrity.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Lead team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and approve technical designs, plans, and specifications for new installations or upgrades.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team, addressing complex electrical challenges as they arise.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall data centre operations.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement strategies to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Ensure all electrical activities are documented and comply with regulatory requirements.
