Electrical Safety Manager - Travelling role

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Safety Manager to join our team and lead electrical safety efforts, primarily focusing on the safe operation of electrical systems in construction and data center environments. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety while working in an innovative environment where infrastructure reliability is critical. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical safety, health and safety compliance, and construction safety management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive electrical safety programs to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company policies across construction and data center sites.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identifications related to electrical systems in data centers and construction projects.
  • Provide leadership and training to site teams and subcontractors on electrical safety protocols, standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code (NEC), and other applicable safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with site managers, project teams, and safety coordinators to address electrical safety concerns and drive safety initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents involving electrical systems to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Create and maintain documentation for safety inspections, incident reports, and employee training records.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on safe practices for electrical installations, testing, and maintenance in data centers and construction sites.
  • Ensure that all safety policies, including those related to diversity and inclusion, are effectively communicated and followed on project sites.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to electrical safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, construction safety, and health & safety regulations.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP), or similar credentials are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety management role with a focus on electrical safety, preferably in data center or construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage safety training programs and presentations across diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for quickly identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Day-to-Day

  • Conduct daily inspections and safety walks of data center construction sites to identify potential electrical hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Review and revise site-specific safety plans in collaboration with project teams and subcontractors.
  • Lead toolbox talks and organized safety training sessions tailored to electrical safety practices.
  • Monitor electrical installation work and ensure proper safety measures are in place before, during, and after electrical system testing or maintenance.
  • Liaise regularly with management, engineers, and contractors to provide recommendations and updates on safety performance and compliance.
  • Address employee safety concerns promptly and implement resolution strategies.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with local regulatory authorities and safety organizations as needed.
  • Regularly develop reports and provide insights on electrical safety issues, incident investigations, and training outcomes.
  • Engage with diverse teams to promote inclusion and a sense of belonging, ensuring everyone feels valued while at work.
