HSE Manager - Frankfurt

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure corporate compliance and site safety.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments for ongoing construction and data centre projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure HSE practices align with industry standards, local regulations, and company objectives.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to team members and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns, and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Compile and report on HSE performance metrics, track compliance trends, and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure environmentally sustainable practices are integrated into construction and operational processes.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and changes in HSE regulations, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead HSE-related communication, fostering an inclusive environment where all employees feel empowered to raise safety concerns.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an HSE Manager, particularly in construction and data centres.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, risk management practices, and compliance standards within the construction and IT infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing safety programs and initiatives on large-scale projects.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and propose effective solutions.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in managing HSE aspects for mission-critical environments such as data centres.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and environmental responsibility frameworks.
  • Multilingual abilities to communicate effectively with global teams and vendors.

Day-to-Day

  • Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aligned with the day’s HSE objectives.
  • Oversee and guide site safety inspections for ongoing construction and operational data centre projects.
  • Assess all construction and operational activities, making HSE recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of internal teams and external vendors to address HSE challenges.
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to HSE strategy meetings.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, leading investigations and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Actively participate in fostering an inclusive workplace culture where every team member feels safe, valued, and supported.
