Overview

Location: Anywhere in Germany. Initial Projects in Frankfurt and Berlin. Must be happy to stay local to Project sites when required. Accommodation can be provided.
Languages: Fluent German and English required

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager/Director to oversee the design, build, and delivery of cutting-edge greenfield data center projects for a fast expanding Data Centre Owner/Operator. This is a unique opportunity to work with an innovative, and fast expanding owner/operator organisation, where you'll lead initiatives that prioritise efficiency, sustainability, and quality in the construction and operation of data centers. Starting with the delivery of two key Data Centers and then expanding the project pipeline with planned projects across the DACH region

Day-to-day

  • Lead and manage large, complex greenfield data center design and construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors/contractors, ensuring alignment on scope, timeline, and deliverables.
  • Monitor construction processes, maintain budgets, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership in pre-construction phases, vendor negotiations, and coordinate with local authorities around key planning and permitting issues.
  • Attend key decision-making meetings, coordinate project timelines, and report on progress to executive leadership.
  • Promote advancements in sustainability and energy-efficient designs within the data center landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end project management of greenfield data center development projects, meeting or exceeding goals for schedule, cost, quality, and compliance.
  • Drive the integration of design and build phases, ensuring seamless execution of deliverables.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and procurement while ensuring adherence to standards, project specifications, and corporate goals.
  • Effectively manage cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to establish performance metrics and ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all construction and building regulations, zoning codes, and safety requirements.
  • Implement best practices, tools, and processes to optimize communication, execution, and tracking activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by leveraging technology and innovations in data center development.
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment to deliver seamless integration between design intent, operational reliability, and construction efforts.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in project management for large-scale projects..

  • Experience delivering Data Centre projects across the full lifecycle is essential.

  • Fluent English and German skills are essential

  • Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of data center design, build, and optimization processes.

  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and energy-efficient solutions.

  • Excellent leadership abilities with demonstrated experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficient in using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) to track and allocate resources.

  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Familiarity with local and international building codes and standards.

  • Core Competencies:

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, executives, and team members at all levels.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, meet deadlines, and adapt to dynamic project requirements.

  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting DEI principles in the workplace, working effectively within diverse teams.

  • Credential & Certification:

  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or similar) is highly desirable.

  • Relevant certification in construction and/or sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) is a plus.
